Guidelines

Individuals, families and investors can purchase property in Turkey , though there are some restrictions related to rural areas and land related to Military sites. Recent changes, in Turkish property buying laws means that a Turkish citizen no longer has to be registered on the deeds, and non-Turkish visitors can now buy property in Turkey .

Some foreign owners can purchase a property in a restricted area by forming a Foreign Direct Investment Company (FDIC).  This has the benefits of reducing any capital gains tax (an individual has to wait four years to avoid capital gains), rental income can be offset against tax, multiple properties can be bought and delays related to Military clearance and Tapu assignment should not apply.

After a sale is agreed, an application is processed by the Title Deeds Registry Office (Tapu). Whirling Dervish will advise you on all protocols and procedures required.  This includes legal matters and likely timescales to completion.
